Goldfinch - Hand-carved Painted Wooden Bird
This life-like hand carved Goldfinch was hand painted Wayan Dirga. He works with his family in a small business in Ubud in Bali. They take great care to ensure the sustainable albesia wood is prepared properly.
Firstly they dry the wood in an oven. Once the Goldfinch has been carved the wood is dried again to prevent any chance of mould. Wayan then paints the very fine details of the goldfinch. Considering he has never seen a British Goldfinch I think you'll be surprised how realistic it is.
Once it is dried then his cousins add the legs. The finished Goldfinch sits on a small trunk of waste gamal wood which will vary in size

Returns
